Privacy Policy
We keep things simple and minimal. Koktra is an inspiration and planning site — there are no accounts, no bookings and no payments here — so there's very little of your data for us to handle in the first place.
Template notice. This policy is a clear, good-faith starting point written to reflect how this specific site actually works. It is not legal advice. If you operate or adapt this site, please have it reviewed against your circumstances and the data-protection law that applies to you before relying on it.
Who we are
This site is Koktra (koktra.com), operated by Kokal Travels. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, email us at [email protected]. For the purposes of data-protection law, Kokal Travels is the "controller" of the limited personal data described below.
What we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. In practice that means:
- Contact-form data. If you write to us through our contact page, we receive the details you choose to send: your name, your email address, the topic you select, and your message. We use this only to read and reply to you.
- Standard server logs. Like almost all websites, our host records ordinary technical information when pages are served — such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This helps keep the site secure and running.
- Browser storage (localStorage). Two small things are stored on your own device: your cookie-consent choice, and any preferences you set in the Trip Style Finder. These are never sent to us.
Importantly, the Trip Style Finder runs entirely in your browser. The choices you make in it are not transmitted to us and not stored on any server — the suggestions are generated on your own device and stay there.
Why we use it (lawful bases)
- To reply to you. When you contact us, we handle your message on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (and, where relevant, taking steps at your request).
- To run and protect the site. Standard server logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure, available and working.
- Consent for any future analytics. We don't currently run analytics. If we ever do, it will only load after you choose "Accept all" in the consent banner — that is, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who processes data for us
We keep our list of third parties short:
- Our hosting provider stores the site files and serves pages, and in doing so processes the standard server logs described above.
- Google Fonts. Our pages load fonts hosted by Google. When your browser requests those fonts, your IP address is necessarily shared with Google as part of that request. You can read more in the Cookie Policy.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking networks.
Cookies
Our cookie use is minimal. We use a small consent mechanism to remember your choice, and we set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Full detail — including the browser storage used for your preferences — is in our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep things
We keep contact-form emails only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, after which we delete them. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our host for security and troubleshooting. Anything stored in your browser stays until you clear it or change your choice.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. Because we hold so little — essentially just any email you've sent us — these requests are usually quick to handle. To make one, email [email protected].
You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. In the UK, for example, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); if you're elsewhere, your local supervisory authority performs the same role. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so do reach out to us as well.
Children
Koktra is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we update how we handle data, we'll revise this page and change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be made clear.
